There seems to be a direct correlation between the amount of time since we last saw Kate Middleton
in public and the number of “royal sources” who are more than willing
to share reports about our dear Duchess of Cambridge. Case in point:
we’ve seen barely a glimpse of Kate since December (a surprise TV appearance was barely satisfying and zoom-lens shots from Christmas provided little intel) and the rumours are running rampant.
First up, the rumour we hope is true: Victoria Beckham will be designing maternity wear for Kate Middleton.
According to sources,
Beckham has generously offered to alter any item from her current
collection to accommodate a royal baby bump. (We’re unsure how this is
suppose to entice the Duchess, whose wardrobe is full
of bespoke pieces, but that’s why it’s a rumour!) The source goes on to
say that Victoria Beckham is “doing all she can to secure their
friendship–and even joked she wants her sons to play polo!” Lest you
think that Beckham’s feelings are one-sided, apparently “Kate also wants
to be a hands-on, hard-working mum and wants to know how Victoria makes
the whole thing look so effortless.” So, keep your eyes out for a
future Kate Middleton and Victoria Beckham meet and greet!
Next, the rumour that may be true but will take at least three years
to confirm: The Queen is giving William and Kate a(nother) house.
Last week,
royal reports were adamant that Prince William was giving Kate
Middleton a house for her 31st birthday (which happens later this week
on January 9). However, today it seems like the house may actually be a
gift from the Queen. New reports claim
that she’s earmarked Anmer Hall, a property on the vast Sandringham
estate that the Queen decamps to for the holidays and early winter
months. However, Anmer Hall is currently on lease until 2017 and
Buckingham Palace refuses to comment, especially considering that the
property is one of the Queen’s private assets and not part of the Crown
Estate. Meaning: until we see moving trucks, it’s anyone’s guess.
